APPLICATION OF GIS FOR REGIONAL ASSESSMENT OF THE ENGINEERING-GEOLOGICAL RISK IN TOWS AND SETTLEMENTS OF UKRAINE

The results of GIS applying for new approaches in the engineering-geological risks assessment are presented in the article. Regional flooding of territories is, at present the main factor of geological changes, first of all, the water-heat exchange and the balance between the mineral skeleton and porous water. About 70% of towns and settlements in Ukraine are situated on loess grounds, which are highly sensitive to the influence of flooding and technogenic water-supplying pipe systems. The application of GIS makes it possible to further develop the engineering-geological risks assessment methodology.
