POSSIBLE VARIANTS OF THE MARGINAL SEAS CLOSING IN EVOLUTION OF NEW-GUINEA-TYPE OROGENS

Goryainov S.V.

The analysis of space snapshots of New Guinea folded belt structure showed that some groups of modern volcanoes are located in the area of abnormal structure. To explain this anomaly the theoretical model of all possible variants of marginal sea closing is constructed. Some new structural variants of the process development were revealed. These variants do not taken into account by the standard models, but they are realised in discussed region. That makes it possible to construct lateral and temporary orders of elementary tectonic conditions of the marginal seas closing for the analysis of a New-Guinea-type folded belts evolution.

Keywords: New Guinea, plate tectonics, island arcs, marginal seas, New-Guinea-type orogen.
