MOBILE GEOPHYSICAL TECHNOLOGIES APPLICATION FOR THE HYDROCARBON POTENTIAL ASSESSMENT OF LARGE BLOCKS AND DEEP HORIZONS OF THE CROSS-SECTION (CASPIAN BASIN, THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN)

S.P. Levashov, N.A. Yakymchuk, I.N. Korchagin

New results of the oil and gas prospect assessment of the license block “Atyrau” are given. They were obtained with the help of mobile technology of frequency-resonance processing and interpretation of remote sensing (RS) data in order to the “direct” searching and prospecting the ore mineral and fossil fuels deposits. The research within the “Atyrau” block showed the absence of anomalous zones with high reservoir pressure. Consequently, the probability of sub-salt deposits detection at depths of over 3,000 meters is practically zero, and the well of 7,050 m depth was drilled in obviously unpromising location. The obtained estimates of maximum reservoir pressure of 69 MPa within the Teren-Uzyuk Eastern structure indicate the possible presence of the sub-salt oil deposits. Comparison of the mapped anomaly in this area with the Tengiz oilfield anomalous zone points to the possibility of finding relatively large hydrocarbon deposits within the Teren-Uzyuk Eastern structure. Joint analysis of remote sensing data processing results within “Atyrau” block with materials of similar studies for the four major areas in the Northern-Turgay region reveals high detection probability of industrial accumulations of hydrocarbons in this area, and, consequently, the discovery of a new oil and gas region of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
