Purpose. The paper presents a project for reconstructing a part of the Holosi ivskyi National Nature Park which is focused on improving the quality and condition of living space in Kyiv. Today it is impossible and unreasonable to devise complex projects without using GIS technologies, as any project has to begin with the comprehensive description of a territory including peculiarities of all natural components. In particular, for designing parks and recreation areas there must necessarily be a pre-project investigation including land surveying. If the dendrological basis has been maintained as within a designed area, then a detailed land surveying is carried out marking each tree, its height and crown girth. As well, there should be a geological exploration of the territory because such information cannot be processed without applying modern techniques of geoinformatics.

Design/methodology/approach. The project includes quite standard documentation for a landscape park: territory zoning, the projects of territory transformation with the best possible changes, the outline of separate project elements, dendrological project. This project can be considered as the recommendations for reconstructing the existing area along the Kytaivski ponds within the Holosiivskyi National Nature Park. The area is essential for preserving unique natural formations and is considerably used by the residents and guests of Kyiv for recreation and pilgrimage. However, for now it is still in a terrible condition and some parts of it cannot be utilized as being in disrepair. The complex of caves does not have stairs and most paths have already gone to ruin. The ponds are cluttered up and are being polluted by the nearby constructions.

Practical value/implications. Topicality of the research. The biggest environmental concerns of Ukraine are poor quality water, air pollution, land degradation, deforestation, intensification of dangerous geological processes, the growing volume of household waste, the poor state of military facilities, radioactively contaminated areas as a result of the Chornobyl disaster.
The object of the research is the Holosiivskyi National Nature Park located in Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv with the area of 4525,52 ha which is subordinated to the Ministry of ecology and natural resources of Ukraine.
The subject of the research is the design of recreation area within the Holosiivskyi National Nature Park.
The methods — analysis, project planning, goal structuring, graphic simulation,

Keywords: GIS, designing, landscape park, project, design of a territory.
